Birds are my soul and my life.

I lovingly refer to the Yellow Breasted Chat as the Yellow Chested Brat. Thank you for elevating the status of this large warbler to the level it deserves. It’s a major manifestation of the divine. I saw my first one in Nebraska, my second in Southern New Jersey. Another name for it is “my beloved “wurp.” Mark S. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota and New Lisbon, New Jersey
I really like that – my beloved “wurp”. I am disappointed that I have not been adding content to this blog, I aim to get back to it. I may look for wurps on Sunday, I found them here last year. A local game commissioner drew out a map for me last year and I found a pair of chats. It is tick infested scrub area, but it’s worth it. They are comical.
I found your blog through the AboutBird challenge popping up on my facebook page asking people to help you ID a bird song. I couldn’t ID the bird but was so happy to see the title of your blog..YellowBreasted Chat, which is the bird that started it all for me. I too love to sit out on my deck and listen and watch for birds…especially for a new bird and if I get a chance to take a picture of it then all the better. I will be checking back
You have some truly beautiful bird photographs on your site. I take it those are your handy work?
I’m lucky enough to live in a village with a lot of birdlife but the birds, me and my camera never seem to coincide!
Yes, photographing birds is challenging, I had to increase the challenge by being obsessed with the migrating songbirds, that breed in my area. That equals – a very small window of opportunity to be available for the spring Migration through this area. All that said, nothing makes me happier than being outside on a Spring morning and hoping to see a species I had never seen before. Last Sunday, the weather and lighting was so perfect, I recorded a short video on my iPhone, with the hopes of watching it during the dreary cold winter. You can hear birds singing in the background. Good Times!
